Band Department Pictures 

The Kettering Fairmont High School Band Department consists of four Concert Bands, two Jazz Ensembles, Athletic Band, Percussion Ensemble, three Winter Guards, and the Marching Firebirds. With over 300 students involved in the band program, the bands have consistently received top ratings at Ohio Music Education Association events.  

The Jazz Ensembles, directed by Bryce Newton, have received awards at local and regional jazz festivals, and have been invited to perform twice at the Ohio Music Education Association State Convention.  

The Winter Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Tommy Roam, has been a WGI regional and championship finalist.  

The Fairmont Marching Firebirds, under the direction of Matthew Phillips and Brandon Schick, have been named a Bands of America regional finalist, grand champion at numerous OMEA and MidStates Band Association events, and have consistently received superior ratings at OMEA State Marching Band Finals for the past two decades.  

Director of Bands is Michael Berning, Assistant Band Directors are Krista Berning, Bryce Newton, Matthew Phillips, and Brandon Schick.
